Teal and Dove Hunting - Teal Arrive in Large Numbers
Hunters saw mixed results
in the Northern Region of Texas. Afternoon shoots were better. As
forecasted by the TPWD, those hunkered around watering holes had
solid shoots especially around, milo, corn and soybean fields.
The cooler weather and
the full moon in the past week helped bring in the teal. Saturday
morning weather was a little warm but the teal were flying really
good for the first couple of hours, everyone should have had their
limits
but some poor shooting didn't help. Excuses, Excuses…It’s
early season and some were out of practice!
7-10 inches of rain
we had at Pintail Farms last week seemed to be the ticket. Many
areas in the North Texas region are still quite a bit dryer.
Dove hunting began at
5:30 Saturday evening and we did real well, everyone had a great
time with some fast shooting. Sunday morning was a little slow, shot
a few teal but after the first hour most of the teal were sitting.
The new cold front
coming in Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 11th & 12th) should make
for some great teal hunting in the coming week.
