| The
weekend was spent watching the waterfowl stream in and finishing
up the latest
duck blinds. Mike Jolley says "Pepe came up with the ultimate
portable hunting blind, 12 feet long and weighs about 200 pounds.
This blind can hunt with 4 people in it and if it needs to be moved
2 guys can pick it up or if moving to another lake just back the
4 wheeler up to it, put the wheels on it and go.." You can
see pictures of this blind below.
"We started seeing allot of new ducks and with this cold front
we should be loaded up to watch the youngsters this weekend, it
should
be a great time watching them trying to hit those teal doing 60mph.
We are seeing widgeon, gadwall and
a few pintails coming into the lakes, and with the rain we've had,
it's going to make for a great opener" per Mike Jolley. Mike received
a report from Pepe on Monday, October 22nd that the ducks were
coming into he fields from the North and that there were lines
of ducks and geese as far as could be seen.
With the early strong cold front and blistering winds in the North
Texas Region this weekend, we saw and unprecedented early migration
of ducks, geese and some strangers. At the bottom of the page you
will find a few pictures of the American
Bittern,
taken by Mike Jolley the weekend of October 20th. This
bird is very secretive and when alarmed will sometimes freeze with
its neck taut and bill pointed at the sky as seen in the picture
below. It is a common bird of the marshlands, but is seldom
seen with it's fantastic camouflage.
Everyone at Pintail Farms is excited about and looking forward to a fantastic Waterfowl Season.

waterfowl hunting season. We will be updating the Field
Reports on a weekly basis, and Photo
Gallery on a monthly basis. If you haven't seen our "Duck

there. The video footage was shot at Pintail Farms last year
and the music
is great.
