| Thanksgiving
week was a little slow until Wednesday when the cold front and
rain came. Saturday morning, about 10 am, the Teal started streaming
in by the thousands and and per Mike Jolley "It was on!" A total
of 34 Teal were taken on Saturday and Sunday. Most of the hunters
got their limits on Saturday and Sunday.
The split has begun
and duck hunting will resume on December 8, 2007. Pintail Farms
will be holding a lot of birds during the next two weeks, and with
a little more rain will be expecting some great
hunting on the second opener after the split.
Duck hunters all over reported having a slow first half of
the split. Many are reporting barely getting their limit after
several hunts.
Pintail Farms has seemed to fair better than most due to keeping
the wells running, but the warmer than normal temps did not help.
We all hope that the second half of the season is better than the
first with more rain and cooler temps.
Below you will see a couple of great shots of a nice buck taken
by Rockie Martin this past weekend at Davy Crockett National Forrest..
Looks like the hunting was good for deer and waterfowl, with even
an
albino
squirrel
showing
up at Pintail Farms.
Per
the TPWD a few mallards had started to show up in the North Zone,
but due to the dry conditions and mild weather, waterfowl hunting
remained spotty. As predicted the strong cold front and rain made
for a much better hunting weekend over the Thanksgiving holidays.
We hope you enjoy the pictures and will come back every week
to check out the weekly Field
Reports, and Harvest
Board.
