This year has been crazy. The days you think would be good have been slow, and the days that you would be slow have been good. The next couple of day are going to be cold like we haven't seen in along time, but the birds will move to the river or big lakes and hunker down for a couple of days. We sat out there most of the day on Jan 4 and had a great hunt, lots of mallards coming in the fields to eat. Lets hope it starts warming up and we can catch the birds coming back North,

Since the split, we have seen a great number of waterfowl coming in with the recent early cold fronts. Make sure and follow our Field Reports and our Harvest Board.

North Texas Weekly Migratory Hunting Report from TPWD.
"North Zone Duck: Duck hunters have taken good numbers of mallards in sloughs, creeks and river bottoms. Receding waters have given more habitat for birds to use. Colder weather and frozen waterways to the north have encouraged more mallards to cross the state line. Strong hunts were posted in Harrison, Bowie and Red River counties. Temperatures forecasted for the teens this weekend could send the last remnants of migrants across the Red River. Canvasbacks and other divers have been steady on Lake O’Pines, Toledo Bend, Lake Fork and Cooper Lake. Wood ducks have been steady at first light in the timber. Hunting has slowed around the zone boundaries of IH-10. Prospects are good."
