| Report for weekend hunting from Mike Jolley: "This past weekend Pepe and I decided to have some fun., Friday Pepe and I went hunting and were going to see how many ducks we could shoot without missing. We shot 7, all mallard drakes. and were always torching each other about shooting hens, so guess what..... I shoot a Pintail hen and Pepe is all over me about it, which he should be, but he kept going on about it and going and going. The next thing I know I have about 8 Mallards coming in on my side. I jumped up and shot a drake. Pepe makes a good shot on a duck that was really high. My duck falls right by the blind and Pepe's falls about 50 yards away on the levee. Pepe picks my duck up and starts to go for his and when he gets about 5 feet from it he doesn't want to pick it up. Well as you can tell from the pictures he shot a Mallard hen, then it was my turn to give it to him. Pepe's new name is" Pintail Pepe the hen killer". Enough about our fun, it was a great weekend. I spend Saturday afternoon letting the ducks land to take some pictures, as you can tell they were close. We at Pintail Farms hopes everyone had a wonderful Christmas and we wish each of you a Happy and Prosperous New Year, of course that includes Pintail Pepe, the hen killer!"

Texas Parks and Wildlife Weekly Report
December 24, 2008
"North Zone Duck: Frigid temperatures throughout the Central Flyway have sent many more mallards across the Red River. Some good hunts were posted in the snow last week on area lakes and reservoirs. Sloughs and backwaters are loading up with greenheads and wood ducks. Green-winged teal have been seen on shallow flats on lakes and reservoirs. Mallards, gadwalls and teal have been solid on Lake Wright-Patman, Lake Palestine, Lake Fork, Lake Tawakoni and Cooper Lake. Wood ducks have been steady in wooded sloughs. Inland ponds near the coast were fair over the weekend. Mostly teal, gadwalls, pintails and shovelers were taken. Some good goose hunts were posted just north of IH-10 near Winnie last week when four days of fog socked in along the coast. Prospects are fair to good.."
