The
North Texas Winter Duck Hunting Season has opened up and the
hunters at Pintail Farms had a great time.
Saturday the weather went down hill some. There was a lot of ice
and the wind tried to switch out of the south. There were still
thousands
of ducks getting out of the fields in the mornings and returning
all day long.
The big job on Saturday was to break the ice and keep it broken up.
Breaking ice during extended freezing temperatures takes a bit of
effort. We have to run an amphibious
MAX-4 ATV through the shallow lakes to keep the ice broken.
Around 10 AM the ducks started pouring back into the fields and anyone that stayed out had a great hunt and limited out.
Sunday was slow in the morning and warm, but around 2 PM a little
mist and clouds showed up. The ducks started pouring in again and
birds were all over the place and geese starting to work the farm.
Maybe the weather pattern will change soon and we can get back to
some good old North Winds. |
